kitchen cabinet

Usually, we don’t really think about kitchen cabinets, unless we get bored of them, and then it occurs to us that it might be a good idea to make a change. Nonetheless, this could be quite expensive, so you may need another solution. You could refresh the cabinets simply by adding a new coat of paint.

Step 1

Get a piece of clean cloth and add some liquid degreaser to be able to remove any dirt that may be on the cabinet. Once you are done, wipe the cabinets dry with another piece of clean cloth.

Step 2

In order to make sure that you do a good job, lightly sand the cabinets with 100-grit sandpaper.

Step 3

You might need to sand by hand the edges where the doors meet the panel.

Step 4

Clean away the dust that you have made while sanding with the help of a piece of clean cloth.

Step 5

This is the first step of the painting itself, since you need to apply a coat of primer. Make sure that the primer is smoothened around the frame and then work on the panel as well. The best thing you could do is to start at the edges and frames and work yourself all the way to the center.

Step 6

You are going to need screw hooks at the end of the doors. To make sure that these holes won’t be visible after you are done with your work, add them to the bottom in case of the base cabinets and to the top in case of the upper cabinets.

Step 7

You will also require a painting and drying station and to get this you have to install screw hooks. In order to also have a handle to make your job easier, insert a drywall screw into the doors. Then hang the door into the screw hooks.

Step 8

With the help of a paintbrush you should apply primer to the back of the doors and let them hang until they are completely dry.

Step 9

When the primer has dried, hand-sand the doors a bit.

Step 10

Get rid of the dust from the sanding and apply a couple of coats of paint. Once the paint dries apply a couple of coats of polyurethane that is based on water. Between the coats, you should sand the surface a bit to ensure the success of the project.
